Hi all, got to the point where my '79 GLS estate is nearly ready to fire up for the first time since 1995. Before I can put the steering column back together properly though, there are three red and white wires hanging loose underneath the dash on that side. I've got no idea where they're supposed to go, anyone know?
Dont run a late 7 dail Viva but White/red normally is dash lighting/illumination?? Looking at your piccy they are all the same length,is there a switch(slider type)under dash ??,maybe for diming dash etc?? Above is just an idea, hope it might help Terry

Yes, Red/White (red with a white trace) is dash lighting. Two of those (with the connectors) will go to the slider switch to the right of the column as bmt said, for the other one you'll have to trace it back.
Thanks for the replies both, but I had another good hunt today and can't see any sign of a dimmer switch anywhere under the dash. Where exactly is it meant to be? Is my car definitely meant to have one?
As you sit in the drivers seat, put your right hand up to the bottom of the dash, just under the section between the instrument panel and the air outlet. There should be a slider switch there. It's not a dimmer as such, except in that it dims them to off. I thought all HCs had the on-off switch, only HP Firenza has a different light switch with a dimmer.
