Vauxhall HB SL 1970 Stevenage Hertfordshire

Postby AccieMad » Sun Jul 02, 2017 1:52 pm

We have for sale a very rare tax exempt four door HB Viva SL 1970 in green based in Stevenage with 11 months MoT.

I have owned the car since 2002 and in that time put 19000 on the clock. The recorded mileage is now 154600.

It is now time to pass it to a new owner who can cherish the vehicle. In the last few years it has done little mileage and it is a shame the vehicle is not used more. The car has been continuously dry stored during my ownership.

It is fitted with a 1256cc OHV engine with viscous coupled fan and electronic ignition. She starts readily and pulls well. I have driven the car from Glasgow to Birmingham and back and also from Glasgow to Stevenage without issue. She happily cruises at 60-65mph on the motorway and can keep up with modern cars around town.

The car starred in the Enfield Haunting as an action vehicle with Timothy Spall and as a dress vehicle in other scenes. I have the call sheets from the filming copies of which can go with the vehicle if wished. There are a couple of photos of the filming attached although I have more.

Wherever you are with the car people want to talk to you about it. It is a real head turner.

A full set of Vauxhall workshop manuals will be given with the car.

Good Points:-

Long MoT.

Front and back screen rubbers replaced.

Five hardly worn tyres, These were replaced within the last three years

Two solid front wings which were replaced some years back and were properly treated before fitting.

Fitted with electronic ignition that can be easily returned to standard if wished (much better with!).

Good clean interior.

Respectable chrome bumpers and hubcaps.

New headlining fitted last year.

Radiomobile radio.

Areas to improve

Real wheel arches could really do with replacement at some point but are not openly rusting/holed. I have one arch panel available.

The front wings have been hand sprayed with an can and rubbed down. A professional blow over would improve the car but from five yards they are not out of place and could be done by a new owner if they had the time.

I would describe the car as solid and capable to regular use. You could drive it to work everyday if wished. It could be improved to show quality with time and parts.

Any inspection welcome.

I am open to serious offers in the region of £3000 but it will find its own value in the market, please PM me with any questions or to discuss a viewing.

I also have a garage full of spares. I would plan to offer the spares at an agreed price to a buyer and then sell anything left following that. Please request the list when discussing a viewing.

Please PM me and I will pass over contact details for a full discussion or to arrange viewing.

Nice car, is the sill patched on the passenger side? I had one almost the same, RPX 599E, same colour, same gold stripe 4dr, but mine had green interior. If I had the money I would have it. Have passed details onto someone who might be interested.

Hi Peter,

The sill has been patched but to a good standard.

Thanks for your help if you can pass on details to somebody who may have an interest.

Best wishes

I'd like to sell within the club so one more try before I pop it on ebay.

£2450 ovno.

I'll leave this up for a further week but then I really will need to get going with a sale.

If you have an interest please PM.

Cheers

I couldn't bring myself to ebay the HB but it now has to go as storage is being lost.

If you are interested please drop me a line. I'm open to (reasonable) offers.

I''m going to put it up for a week and I'll then need to find alternatives to sell so please get in touch if you are interested.

PM me for more details.

It isn't perfect but it has a really good interior and is capable to daily use.

When will another come up at this price?

Sorry for the slow reply. Yes it is still for sale. It is now in Fife so that might be a problem.

If you are interested drop me a pm and we can have a chat.
