Boot badged as an auto but no other confirmation. Library pics from 2010 seem to show a gear lever?

The gear lever position looks too far back for an OHC manual transmission.

I thought that too, David. Possible non-standard engine and gearbox.

One of the photos in the eBay ad, shows an 1159 engine in it....the mystery deepens!!

It looks likely that the OHC engine and box got ditched in favour of an OHV. It is a mid to later 1256 HC engine with a viscous coupled fan. There are a few OHC bits in the boot and the carpet has been cut to match the new gear lever position.
