Headlights don't come off full beam.

Postby Po79 » Wed May 12, 2010 12:18 pm

Hi all,

My headlights don't seem to want to fully come off full beam, when the headlights are on dip they are dull and the blue full beam light on the dash stays on (but duller) switch it on to full beam and they work fine and the light on the dash comes on fully.

Any ideas of what this could be?

Thanks,

Po.

Hi Shamm,

I don't think they are but my work for this week has been cancelled so I will take a look at it tomorrow and see, might be able to find some form of switch in my box of tricks to test it with.

Cheers,

Po79.

po

Put on dip headlights and unplug each in turn to find out which one is causing the fault,
you could have either a filament fault or a bad earth on one (or both) head lamps.

Hi guys and thanks for the replies,

I haven't got around to looking at it yet as work picked up so have been trying to get the hours in to spare me from having to sell the car but the next two days have been cancelled again so doesn't look good!

I'll hopefully be able to start looking tomorrow and get back to you.

Oh and thanks for the offer on the switch thats very good of you, I may have to take you up on the offer. :)

Cheers for now,

Po.

All sorted now guys,

Thanks for the help. In the end it was the extention wires (loom) that came with the ligths for the snoot, the wires were fine where it joined the original loom but then for some reason the wires that went into the conection block that fits to the light buld on the other end were in a different sequence.

I couldn't see it as the wire were taped together and I just thought they would have been in the same order both ends!

You live and learn,

Thanks again,

Po.

Po - looking at those lights on another thread - are they in upside down ? I can see the side light bulbs at the top of the units - on mine they are at the bottom :?

Hi Jon,

What these lights?.......

Image

Look the right way up to me. If you look closely you'll see the side light bulbs at the bottom like yours.

I stand corrected  , must have been a different picture i saw !
Must say they fit a lot better than the R11's ive fitted

not a lot of cutting needed , by the looks of things , just some building up of the verticals :D

- what were the make and numbers again :?: :?: are you still considering selling ?
Cheers jon
