fuel guage problems

Postby brightorangemini » Sun Jan 02, 2011 4:24 pm

my fuel guage just jumps around all the time, regardless of how much fuel is int it, the wires to it appear to be fine and aslo to the back of the guage looks ok, all the other ghuages work fine,

is it a common problem? where should i look first?

did you get anywhere with this?
i be checking the sender in the tank, maybe the float has broken off and it's just swinging around by itself?

Or a bad earth somewhere. Take the wire off the sender and put it to earth, if the gauge reads full the gauge is ok.

On the Viva HC, there is a guage stabiliser unit, on the back of the instruments, it plugs into the back connecting onto a printed circuit. Bet thats the fault!!

the floats can fill with fuel over time- at least mine has. it must soak in slowly. check that too. If its half full (or half empty...) it could affect it?
