Postby yggdrasil » Wed Jun 22, 2011 9:55 pm

Havng a problem with Temperature gauge on HB viva. Checked the gauge is working corectly using 12 volt bulb in circuit and gauge fully deflects, replaced temperature transmitter. Now gauge stays on hot after a few minutes running. Any answers Dave R :thanx:

Hello and welcome. First obvious question is, Is the car running hot? If not, could be the votage stabiliser behind the dash, are the other instruments working ok? Printed circuit behind the dash, but unlikely. Damaged wiring between the sender and gauge. Are you sure the sender unit is the right one, different models had different rated senders as far as I know.

Thanks Peter. You mention the voltage stabliser, having looked at the wiring diagram I cannot locate it behind the dashboard.
Regarding the transmitter, the one I have fitted was for the 1159cc engine but the HC model, this could be the problem, what do you think?

Thanks for all your responses, and take your advice. Can you suggest the best place to purchase the correct sensor?

Thanks for all the advice on the temperature gauge problem, now resolved as I have fitted correct temp transmitter, now reading a steady 90c when engine is warmed up.
