Hi 25 years have gone since i played with dynamos, but way i used to test them at side of road (rac man of 29 years)make a short 5 inch loom up with small terminal one end and large terminal the other, then bear the middle of loom just enough to get a volt meter on.remove wiring from dynamo and fit the loom, connect one side of volt meter to bear bit of loom and other to earth of battery(your HA poz/neg earth??).start engine ,very slowly increase revs, voltage should increase very rapaidly, please dont go past 20 volts, will make alot more and fry the dynamo, anyway this will test your dynamo for output, after this its up to the regulator to control this output Terry
