spark plug cables by measuring

Postby rolo7011 » Fri Feb 08, 2013 2:06 pm

How can I change my spark plug wires by measuring?
I've tried but I do not get it

Cable 1: 201 KΩ
Cable 2: outside range
Cable 3: 303 KΩ
Cable 4: outside range

I think I'm doing something wrong, can anyone help me?
I have just the multimeter connected to both ends

thanks

Hi Rolo
If you are trying to check the resistance of a HT Lead, first set your Avo/Meter to Omhs
Connect leads of meter to either end of the lead
The maximum value/resistance of the lead should be no more than 7k/7000 omhs per foot/30cms of lead, above this the lead is unservicable
PS Tip normaly the bad part of lead is at plug cap end were it has been pulled off plug,if lead is faulty just spike centre of lead 2cms from cap,if reading is ok now as a tempory fix cut and refit plug cap connector
Hope this helps

Okee thanks,

I have bought new cables, this also allows them up to 15 K ohms at 1 meter resistance may have. So the old cables were worn!
