A slight query

Postby psl » Mon Jun 02, 2014 8:55 pm

While sorting through some bits, I noticed that on a couple of 7 dial dash`s the rev counters are different, one is upside down the other the correct way up. Just wanted to know

Both are correct. Early dashes had an ammeter instead of battery meter and writing for the names of the meters (Temp, Fuel etc) and the Tacho the 'normal' way up. The clock was electro mechanical as well, with cable adjuster below the dash.

In early '74 for the Magnum the ammeter was ditched and the battery meter installed and for the DroopSnoot (HPF) the tacho was installed upside down. The 'red' area was hidden from view with the HPF small steering wheel.

However, some of the upside down tachos appeared in Magnums in '75 - probably due to the scrapping of the HPF programme, and only with black interiors.

In about late '75' -'76 ish the names were replaced with symbols and the warning light cluster got symbols instead of names as well. The clock became fully electric with a center adjuster and no second hand.
