Stalk Switches-Viva/Chevette?

Postby chopper » Mon May 15, 2023 7:56 am

I could do with some help identifying a stalk unit.
The metal plate for the top one is a different shape on the left to the one below which IS for a Viva HC.
Could the top one be for a Chevette?

With thanks in advance for any input-regards C :?

Photo below shows a Chevette switch, there could be other types/forms.
There are a number of similarities with your lower item.
It's not the same as your top one, but they're not necessarily incompatible.
All Chevettes had twin stalks. Perhaps the top one is early single-stalk HC?

Thanks for input.
Both my mounting plates are `twin stalk` its just that the top one only has the indicator mechanism fitted , the lower one only the wiper switch.
Sorry to say cannot see/open your image  :?:

Can you show the stalk ends in your photos? The very last stalks used were a version similar to Mini and Triumph so either could be one of those.

As requested and thanks for helping.
Note that indicator stalk arrows point left/right not up/down as Viva HC, also horn image is smaller.
Under the metal plate the plastic pinch bracket is on top behind the plate as photographed (see first pic.) , not facing the floor -
-unless of course this indicator was to be used by your left hand (as is normal on more modern era cars) and the picture shows it upside down? :?:
Cheers

Sorry, I was standing with a HS Chevette all last weekend and completely forgot to have a look at the logos. Worth noting that other things used very similar stalks - a mate has a Reliant Scimitar GTC from 1984 and the visible parts of the stalks are similar to Viva - I don't recall the details of logo sizes or indicator up/down vs. left/right. Also Aston Martin Lagonda (the wedge one) has stalks that look identical, though that does have the positions reversed.

They could also be FE Victor stalks.
