Ariel question

Postby AccieMad » Sun Jul 23, 2006 7:14 pm

I've just changed a wing on the HB. I've put the ariel back on but it has zero to no reception when fitted on the wing but good reception in my hand. I'm pretty confiedent I have wing to ariel base contact. The wings are now bolted on.

Any ideas?

Thanks

It's a metal wing. Bolted on.

Ariel question

Did you use lots of sealant and underseal when you fitted the wing? If so the wing may not be earthed to the car very well. Try running a little earth strap from the wing to the car some where. I had the same problem when I fitted new wings to my Chevette, too much underseal! The wings didnt rot for the 6 years I had the car though, so it has its compensations! Matt.

The wing is hammerited and undersealed. I'll try popping in a lead to the inner wing.

Cheers

Could be aerial itselt is faulty. For example the aerial mast could be shorting to earth.

Hi Sid,

That would make sense as well as I can't get anything as soon as it touches the wing.

I'll pop into halfords and grab another.

Cheers
