Full Beam on HPF

Postby tayportfc » Thu Oct 25, 2007 8:04 pm

Hi,
I am having trouble getting full beam on my HPF. I can pull back on the stalk and be able to flash and the indicators work fine but when i push the stalk forward sometimes full beam fails to engage.
Any help would be great as it is driving me :x

Cheers

If its working on courtesy, (pull back ), and not on full beam (push forward), it would suggest the arm itself, unless its through a relay.

Stick a test meter on it first though to check you get 12v out in the full beam position, may be just a broken wire or dodgy relay?

It may be bent not broken.

When the arm moves it moves the bendy contacts to touch the fixed contact pins. It then latches with a springy wedge and groove system.
If the bendy contact have been overstressed (bent up) then with the arm in its latched position the contacts may still be open.

Test this by putting it into the latched position and very gently moving the arm back and forward without clicking it out of the latch.
You should not be able to get the lights to go out without hearing the click of the latch releasing first.

If it is bent then it's a remove, strip down and repair job, don't lose any of the bits!
