HB bonnet repair

My passenger side mounting on the bonnet itself is weak with some rust.

Any ideas on the best repair here. It's thin, unsure it can be welded but glass fibre is a bodge.

There is a lot of weight and twist on it when the bonnet is lifted.

It can be done, the way i did mine was to use an old knackered bonnet and cut out the section needed, just the underskin, cut out the rot, shape it all up and weld it in place, you have to go steady as the bonnet will start to bow out of shape.

The idea of using repair sections from another bonnet is a good one. If damage is on the underside only. you could use an automotive glue to bond new repair piece to the bonnet. Can you upload a photograph of the rust?

Will be next weekend before I can get pics.

Separating on the back nearest the windscreen (this is the worst bit) and cracked either side. Not too bad.
