Are all OHV's equal?

Postby Stu » Tue Oct 03, 2017 10:42 am

Hi all,

Quick technical question for those in the know...
I've been offered a low mileage OHV engine & box from an old Opel Kadett.
They say it's the same engine as used in the Chevette and a match for mine in the '71 Firenza (1159cc).

Is this the case? Are there slight differences but still can be used?
I'm not about to suddenly do a whole engine swap, but would be nice to know as much as possible about the compatibility as may grab it simply as a backup/spares if all good.

Cheers,
Stu

Some good info here... basically not interchangeable. I have tried years ago but there's loads of very slight differences.....

Thanks very much for pointing that info out, and to Paul for providing it originally.
