If I remember correctly, it is very difficult to do in place because there is very little room between the sump and the cross member. There isn’t enough room to remove the sump completely. It is easier to remove the engine, but also possible to remove the engine mounts, lift the engine and, with a fair amount of cursing, get the old one out to fit the new one. I’ve tried it once on my HC.
