Hi,

What brand and type do you use?

And do you use the same for the rear axel?

It's a Viva HC..

Hi

Oil for gearbox should be EP90, or extreme pressure SAE90.
Not so easy to find now, but you can use the more modern EP80/90 made by a number of companies. Back axle is the same.
You should be able to get this at most car spares shops and some garages (in the uk anyway...... most of our garages sell more donuts and coffee rather than oil and car spares!)

Hope that helps

OK,

The reason for asking is that I have used the EP80/90 and got suspicius if that oil will damage the synchro rings in the gearbox... I have had lots of trouble with my gearbox and will fit a replacement one. I want to be sure that the problems I have had has nothing to do with the oil it self.

So can I count on you guys who use the standard EP80/90 that that isn't the problem.

Used EP80/90 in my car for the last 15 years, and not had a single problem with gearboxes or axles. Viva boxes are known for knocking out syncro rings, usually 2nd gear..... Learn to double de-clutch..... it will make a lot of difference to the life of you box.

Cheers
