Hi all, I hope that you had a relaxing and enjoyable festive season. Next to come is the new year celebrations, which I would also hope will be enjoyable to you all.
During the last six weeks since the clubs new committee was formed, work has been on-going and committee members have been working hard to improve the club and make next year, 2007, which is the club's 25th anniversary year the best ever for the club.
I am pleased to report at this time, some of the things that have been happening behind the scenes on behalf of the membership.
The paperwork for the club has been collected from Adrian by Paul Bottomley, who is now under piles of paper somewhere in Nuneaton trying to compile databases for memberships, Vehicle historys etc. We may not see Paul for quite some time, though I do hope that he will survive untill Easter.
The next issue of the club magazine has now been compiled by Adrian and Paul Bennett, sent to the printers, proof read by the committee and we are currently awaiting delivery of it to post to all members.
Terry Pettit has been sorting out the club regalia, getting rid of junk, and obtaining quotes for new items for the comming year. Terry is open to suggestions from club members as to what they may like to see the club offer to its members for the coming year, so please bring your suggestions forward.
Paul London has been to his first meeting of the VBOA as our club rep. I understand from him that next year is going to be exiting for the VBOA and we are so pleased to be playing a big part in the plans made.
Clara has been looking into events that the club will be hosting and others that we will be a part of. She is also actively looking for arear reps to help her and some volunteers have come forward, but more would be welcomed.
Danny is about to take over the accounts from Adrian as it is the end of the clubs financial year on 31st December. He has also been looking at was of saving the club money and where best to bank it.
We have also asked Steve hammond to join us to help with the organisation and smooth running of the club. Steve will be joining us in January to assist Paul Bottomley with his many tasks.
As regular visitors to this site may know, we have had a problem with a letter sent to the classic car press regarding the future of the club. Within this letter, accusations were made about the previous running of the club and implying that the current committee is or could be held responsorble for this. I am happy to announce that I have contacted the classic press on the club's behalf, so the record can be put right and we have been able to turn any negative publicity to our advantage. We have a feature due to appear in the next issue of Classic Car Magazine on 4th January and the Independent newspaper are devoting a piece to the Viva in this Tuesday's issue, 2nd January, 2007.
We have contacted other clubs offering our frienship, as all we want to do is enjoy the cars and promote their use. Karl Burnes and I will hopefully be meeting early in the new year to try to put past issues behind both this club and the Drivers Club.
Being the Chairman of this club is an honnour and I allong with all of the committee members will work tirelessly to make the membership of this club enjoyable for every member We have achieved so much in less than six weeks, so hopefully the wheels are in motion to make a real difference.
New Stationary, membership cards, club regalia is on order, or has started arriving, so the change that we wanted is realy happening.
I look forward to recieving news of your membership renewals and also welcoming new members to the club, in 2007. Please have a happy and peacefull new year.
Ian Francis.
Chairman, VVOC.
