Viva HB 50th anniversary

Postby Fred Dukes » Thu Sep 08, 2016 10:30 am

As it is the 50th anniversary of the HB I thought it would be good to try and build a thread here of 50 HB's owned by the Poster and currently road legal. I will start this off with a picture of B-Bumble - my Brabham

Mine needed surgery after it blew a head gasket on the way back from a Derbyshire run, not my lucky weekend as I had to do a speed awareness thing last week after being clocked at 36 in a 30 limit.
A local friend with a very nice 61 PA Cresta has been round to help reset the valves and timing,Image (have to admit I had to use a second Head Gasket as after thinking it was cured water was getting into the oil after starting and whilst there is no sign of such the second time round, it was only briefly started.
I hope the problem is solved , however I am awaiting a carb gasket for the Solex carb as they sent the wrong type, I just hope the head wasn't warped ,on the car that is.

Oh, all-right then I was going to resist.

Couple of years old this shot, not much different, maybe a blister on the wings, despite the ravages of daily use, outdoor storage, and a lunatic-run Borders Council that this year, out of pure badness, thoroughly, liberally salted almost every road in region, in the last week of April when day-time temperatures were in the mid-70s F. In these litigious times this is the sort of *Bleep* you have to put with if texting morons are allowed to drive, reliant on technology to save their necks, or maybe TPTB wanted no hindrance in the event an insurgency needed crushing.
