"Young Enthusiast Insurance"

Postby HC Fairley » Tue Jan 10, 2017 6:51 pm

Hi guys,
17 and about to do driving test, plan is to finish up the restoration and drive my viva as my first car. Was flicking through a 2014 issue of Classic Car Weekly a few weeks back and noticed the club was in partnership with Footman James regarding a classic car insurance discount scheme for young club members between 17 and 25. Just wondering are the club still involved in this as it could result in me getting an insurance discount if so.
Many thanks,
Ethan

Never got any definitive guidance from F J or RH specialist insurance on this - kept saying they were talking to the underwriters but all went quiet. There are restrictions on providing any insurance on Classic cars to under 25's - other than if you have cover on an everyday modern car which at 17 will be an arm and a leg anyway.
Yes if you are a member of our Club you will get a discount but nothing special to my knowledge for the under 25 driver.

Thanks for the reply Fred,

Did manage to get a quote from Adrian Flux which doesn't restrict me in any way apart from mileage, don't need to be insured on a modern car at all. Was just wondering as while quoting me they had also asked if I was a member of the club and had spotted the article in CCW about Footman James. Will have to become a paid member then if being one gets discount, will get form sent away soon.

Thanks
