HC steering rack question

HC steering rack question

chaps, is the HC rack the same as the magnum and firenza in that it has a splined shaft with the steering coupling removed?

Yes, all HC racks are the same basic dimensions.

There were 2 manufacturers, Burman and Cam Gears. The Burman one is the least desireable for the competition minded owner as it is supposedly weaker, although I've not noticed any difference. As a result of this belief the Cam Gears rack was developed for competition and was the basis of the DTV quick rack Sportpart.

TJ Motorsport had quick rack conversion kits made for the Cam Gears rack a couple of years ago and may have some left.

I suppose I didn't answer that part of the original question...LOL

Yes it is splined with the joint removed. There is a flat on it where the pinch bolt passes through and a small pin to align with the slot on the joint.
