do it cold as book says start it warm it up re adjust, tappet adjustment is critical to a good running engine and can only be set when warm

hi dave i have the Scientific publications book here and it says to cold set intake at .008 and exhaust at .012 run engine for 30 minutes and hot set intake at .006 and exhaust at .010 hope that helps TIMBUK

8 thou, engine warm, and set them with engine running, Its the most accurate way as it takes into account any lobe wear on the cam. I was taught to do them this way when I worked at a dealership in the 70s, works on all
ohv engines but don't try it on the
ohc.
