I should have checked more carefully but wanting to keep some minor rust patches at Bay,when I found an add for A Pampas Green paint kit,my car is used all year around and sits outside.
On arrival of the pack, the finish was clearly a darker hue / rereading the description to be fair it said "Pampas Green Met "70-9, which didnt register either, so on contacting the vendor they replied asking for the code on the can and the digits off the receipt so they can check.
OK as the Americans say my bad and I am due to buy another Yamaha 900 , a model that the frame is the same colour as the tank etc, and is a project but the Green paint is a pretty similar colour to that in the rattle can. Also I have to confess to using some of it over the grey primer provided and try for a better match next year.
Some asert I should have it resprayed but the majority tend to praise the original patina, quite often I hear unmolested as well as unlike folk at shows with pristine cars I dont worry about parking the ol gal and walking away as publics arent always too carefull with their bags etc.
Also I spent out on a rebuilt engine, new clutch, waterpump, rad, and rear brake seals this year alone so what with a few motorbikes to consider the purse isnt bottomless.
However it would be interesting to know whether there was a later Pampas Green, only metalic?
