I like the big engine from the original HA - and the GT engine more sluggish than the Beetle, Morris Minor and the Ford Anglia. Ooh err don't let Colin read this

"the accessibility of the Slant-4 engine of the original HA model made it a real hit with young petrolheads seeking to create their very own hot rod." :nonono:

I love the sub title 'Ask a Man Who Knows'. They should have done that when writing the article!

And that report is, reputedly, from a Vauxhall Dealer??? Hmmm

I did toy, at one time, with buying a NEW Viva. Thought it would be cool to have a 1966 and a 2016 Viva alongside each other on the drive, and actually went to look at one, at the local dealer!
Had second thoughts when I saw it live. Nice enough 'little' car and would be fine as ' the second car', or for poodling locally etc, but a long journey? NO chance.
Pitiful small boot and the rear seats are right up against the rear screen almost. Wouldn't want my grandson, or anyone else in there should we get shunted!!

Big competition too from Peugeot, Ford and Toyota etc, in that sector as well. Not surprised it was dropped, especially after the PSA group purchased Vauxhall Motors.

Although I own and love my Viva, I worked for Peugeot for around thirty years, and still drive one, so I'm glad they are looking after my pension at least.
Did think about restoring a 104 or 205, but they are far too complex!! Viva s forever!!

This is Colin's carer writing.

We would like to inform you that we've taken Colin's computer off him.

We have also gagged him and tied him to a chair. We hope this will help.

Kind regards,

The Mental Health Team

Modern Vauxhall dealers probably won't know any of this stuff, and Evans Halshaw probably have branches for pretty much every mainstream make so it's not like they're specialists. But you'd think they might ask Vauxhall Heritage to proof read stuff like this before they publish it, or even the chap who owned the HB who could probably have corrected the bits wrong with it.

Not really worth contacting them to correct such an old article though.

I used to own that HB, and I know the lad who has it. he could have written a better article.
