Hello all,
I would be interested in ascertaining how other owners that have fitted front seat inertia reel seatbelts - instead of the static - coped with the provision of the extra fixing point necessitated for anchorage of the actual inertia reel. Obviously it is critical that the reel is angled precisely for it to function correctly. I presume extra plating is necessary in the absence of factory fitted anchorage point-I do not see a third anchorage point in my two door. Comment would be appreciated from anyone who has such experience.
Regards,
Bill

If your car is a '78 2 door it should have angled inertia reel housings behind the rear quarter panel trim card. A special card was fitted with a slot and cover trim on cars fitted with inertia belts.

However, they may have been omitted on an E model.

I have taken photo of the anchorage on my HC estate and the bottom anchorage is on the same bolt that fixes the inertia reel mechanism. Been like that for the many years I have owned it. Passed many MOTs and never caused any problems.

Thanks very much for your input Fred - that option did not occur to me.

Thats how mine are going to be mounted. Bottom bolt does both fixing points. Shows it as one of the options in the fitting instructions.
