I too have read the various posts related to the action of our chairman, Ian, and would like to assure him of my support in attempting to put past personality clashes behind us in the interests of furthering the enjoyment of the VIVA/Vauxhall family.
As a member of the VDR I was disappointed at the reaction of Deon and Flod to Ians approach. In hindsight it may have been better if the initial approach had been a personal one but, Ian, as far as I can see, did nothing but indicate that we are now under new management and here is an opportunity to put personal differences aside and work in a complimentary way for the good of Vivas. Ian did not deserve the reaction he got.
I am a member of the VVOC, VDC, 3CV&CCC, I have been a member of DSG because all these clubs have had something unique to offer me. At the end of the day members join clubs for enjoyment and a sociable participation in classic car activities. When politics, cliques, and personality clashes overshadow the more positive aspects of club and interclub activities membership tend to vote with there feet. So-Ian - if you are intent on trying to overcome these negative elements them you have my whole hearted support.

Thank you all for the points raised above. I did expect some sort of reaction to what we as a club are trying to do. There will be members that agree with me, those that don't and those who just don't care. It would be a boring world if this were not the case.

Some people may say it is too soon to try to make friends with other clubs. I have to say to them, when would have been a better time?

Some will say why bother? I would say why not? what is the point of keeping things bitter? surely it is better to try to rub allong with everybody.

Most of you will know that earlier this year I suffered a few heart-attacks. If this has taught me anything at all it is that life is to short for holding grudges. I have learned that to try to get allong with others and treat them with the respect that I would like to be treated is important. Not to wast time on fighting or feeling sorry for ourselfs. Get out there and enjoy what you have got and use your time wisely.

Well we have got a great club that now has a chance to do the things that we have all been moaning were missing.

We can enjoy the cars, the friendships, the information and all of the new events that the committee especially Clara has planned for us, etc.

Use your club and kick us up the a**e if you feel you need to. Tell us what you want from us the committee and the club. We have over 600 members from various backgrounds and most of them have joined the club to be involved in some way. Some will want to organise and run things, others will want to show there cars, others will just want to watch what is happening and some will want to tell stories etc.

We all have a role and can all play a part so come on and join in, help make this club a living breathing socialising place where enjoyment and fun are the main priority.

Place a post under the heading what can I offer? and what do I want? Lets KILL appethy and use this new beginning to do something posative. Don't just sit there waiting for others to do it for you, join in as we can all offer something no matter how small or how large. Negativity has no place here so be posative instead it is much more fun and can benifit everyone.
