Sump guard

Postby michaelHC » Fri Oct 02, 2009 5:22 pm

Anyone got a sump guard fitted / ever fitted a sump guard to their viva???
I want to fit one to my HC, but as with every other rally mod, parts etc aren't readily available off the shelf compared to other 70s cars!!! :(

Any help would be great,
Michael

I think the Coburn book "Tuning Vivas and Firenzas" shows a pretty good picture of the sump guard. As I recall it bolts on to the inner anti-roll bar mounts at the back, not sure where it bolts on the front.

I managed to get a copy through Amazon! wasnt cheap mind you...

It doesnt go into a great detail on the tuning of the 1256, but it is an interesting read

Ill smuggle it into work and scan you a few pages :P

There's often a copy on eBay. Here's one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1973-VAUXHALL-VIV ... 286.c0.m14

That looks like a photocopy to me, although the seller says its a reprint. Or there's an autographed copy on for £80.
