Just a small update..

I made made some brackets for two additional interior lamps above the B pillars..

Image

It took a bit of messing but eventually I got them positioned so they wouldn't alter the shaope of the new headlining..

Image

A pair of Rover 200 boot lamps and alls good ..

Hi Martin, if you need help with a front anti roll bar, if you have not yet fitted one, let me know. You normally can't used the standard ohc one that goes across the lower arms and rear of sub frame with a large V8, but you can use one that joins the top A arms fitted forwards of the engine.(this was a rare DTV option) It would be possible to use one with adjustable end blade links cheers Pete :D

ps Are you the guy who built the cossy Mk1 Mondeo and Cossy Escort Convertible? I also run a white opel manta turbo....we were there for a magazine feature....

Hi Pete,

I have not yet sorted the front ARB but have made brackets and welded them onto the chassis rails ready for when I have a chance to put some time into that part of the project..

I do still own the Cosworth Mondeo but have never had a Convertible Escort..

Just a small update

The mirrors were one thing that was stopping door assembly, after mucho thought I decided that Vitaloni California mirrors would be the choice, I was going to set them up on the car and then smooth them making the mirror one piece but when I got the passenger one in place I couldn't see naff all out of it  Plus they adjust by pushing the mirror glass so they were rejected. Since mid Aug I have been walking to and from work in a bid to keep fit and during the walk (6 miles) I've spent most time looking at pretty well every car and couldn't find anything off a modern car that was door mounted that looked close except for a Fiat 500, so I bought one off ebay and was astonished how big they are!! (see pic)

Image

I then started wondering if door mirrors that were fitted on the door frame (in the corner of the glass) could be adapted so I bought some early Rover 75 mirrors (nicknamed bullet mirrors due to their shape) and got the saw out...

After about 12 hrs work I ended up with these...

I'm well pleased with the look and above all they work fine, they also power fold!!

Here's some other pics of progress..

Image

2010 Focus Seat belts for the front with 1998 Saxo rears, my Firenza had static belts in the front and no rears.

Image

I'm going for 'J' Hook grooves on the discs..

New 5ch amp..

No rear screen rubbers are available so I bought a length of extrusion and made my own..

I bought the rubber from Woolies, the page address is: http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-122-scr ... ?pagenum=1

I used part number R1181-C, this comes complete with the chrome finisher but when the screen was installed the finisher was quite tight so I used my original one and used the new strip in the front screen which fitted just great! :D

I used Loctite 495 to bond the corners together (industrial superglue)

Wow. I think most on here would agree with me when I state that this is most likely the best ever Viva in the world! 8)

You have not only done a awesome engine conversion which by itself is cool, you have continued on and left no stone unturned. It's inspirational. When I am next in England I demand a ride!!! :) Keep the photos coming please.
