Don't forget that early Chevy V8s were factory fitted to Firenzas in South Africa and to Ventora FDs in the UK.With little or no chassis reinforcement. My friend owned one. The photo is of a FD conversion though.

Just in case you'd all thought that I had given up on my Firenza .....

Image

I have had some very serious health issues  which has slowed progress, I'm sort of in the clear at the moment so back to the original plan! The engine and gearbox is now sitting in the car without the aid of an engine crane :D All mounts are now made and its on to making the exhaust headers and tunnel next.

Mounting brackets still need welding properly to front x member...

Vauxhall gearbox mounting bracket worked...

This was the mock up (Chevy 5.7) for my GT Viva, once I had removed the under powered Rover V8.....

Did you retain the carb? I properly hate carbs! Just bought the ECU for mine, trying an Omex 710 :D .

I haven't made much progress lately so I decided to make an effort, I was stuck with fabricating a trans tunnel and was tempted to weld in one from something else like a Sierra but decided that was the wrong way to go and so tomorrow it goes in for a new transmission tunnel to be fabricated :D

It was good to see it outside

On my trailer, ready to go

Managed to get the seats I was looking for, they will fit a treat and have a retro look..

Will post some pics of the new tunnel when it returns.

Correct, the seats are from a Porsche. Mine came from a 968, I had previously bought some 924 ones (same seat but vinyl/cloth covering) but when the black leather ones came up it was a no brainer to buy them as I now only have to get the rear seats and door cards done to match.

Search under 'Porsche seats' on ebay and you should find plenty on offer.

All you have to do is put this together as well as you have your previous projects.

Then it will be truly awesome.
