Dellorto DHLA40 on 1256 - anyone done it?

Postby SL1256 » Sat Jan 16, 2010 6:08 pm

Hi all,
I've been a bit quiet since I put up about my plans for a 1256 Turbo motor, that aint happening at the mo cos I was made redundant BUT I am doing a few bits and pieces to the current motor and one is fitting a Dellorto DHLA40(currently in the post), Im pretty sure that it was once one of pair so im gonna have to set it up for my engine(jets/venturi's etc). Has anyone done this before and remember what size jets etc they started with?

Got a Weber 45 setup on mine, but thats not gonna help.....
To be honest you need to get on a rolling road. I bought my weber set up for a tuned 1275cc A series. My engine is 1280cc and in principle, the A series and the OHV are very similar.
Changed practically everything on the rolling road....... so lesson learned, and money well spent even though it cost nearly as much as the carb......

Well the carb turned up on saturday and i quickly started to do some research and...........it wont work! Ive made the mistake of not asking enough questions before buying and have ended up with a carb that wont work with an engine as small as the 1256(ive bought what is called an "emissions" type carb) which apparently cant be tuned to work on anything below 1500cc SO..........................I went and bought a weber dcoe40 thats come off a chevette :D its in the post as we speak! Its gonna need a good going over as it hasnt been used for sometime but I feel a bit more confident this one will do the job.
