Viva stud pattern

Postby NzVivaHc » Thu Feb 18, 2010 9:56 am

hello all .... i have a 1975 viva hc and im wanting to but some nicer larger wheels on it .... has anyone done any mods to the wheels hubs so that it is able to take 4x100 rather than the original 101.6 .......

also what is the best wheel sizes to go for .... i am looking at a 15"x6.5" rim with 195/50/15 tires ....

any rims that will go well pls tell

im thinking along the lines of minilites, spitfires, hotwires

Quite a few people use 'wobble headed' bolts. failing that i think it would be a case of having your hubs re-drilled.

personally i don't like wobble bolts/nuts

if i was wanting to change the pcd, i'd have the hubs reworked, its safer :goodideasign:

wobble bolts are one thing but as a viva has studs you are left looking for wobble nuts. :bino:

Last time I looked NO ONE made 7/16th wobble nuts, so forget it, unless some starts making them, or finds a supplier, then the whole "use wobble bolts/nuts" stock answers can come into play. :D

The only way to do it properly (engineering wise) would be to re drill the hubs, or machine new hubs and fit new studs to suit.

However to balance the reply, some people just bang on 100 mm wheels to 101.6 mm hubs and say the car is safe and its not an issue. I couldn't possibly recommend it and wouldn't want to do it, but we live in a free world.

Personally I think your rossies look good

Hello, ofcourse you could make a spacer if you whould like to.
Then i mean a steel/alu plate with holes that are 4x101.6mm and bolt that to the car, and like 4x100 or etc. for the wheel. If you then shorten the studs and make the holes in the spacer bigger i think it should work.
But before you do this you will have to check that you can find wheels with right ET, so they dont get to "wide" for the body..
I will do this but with a 4x108mm spacer, for saab wheels, about 20-25mm spacer. I think it will work, but ofcourse we will see how it works.
Just a idea :)

one of these? :goodideasign:

Yes that would work, but then your now down the route of inner wing and outer wing changes due to tyres rubbing on full lock. But that said a good idea to an age old issue.

Yes exactly, thats what im thinking on.
Yes, but the wheels i have that is for an saab 9000 i think will work. But my brother will get to make one of theese, and then i will test and see if it works, if it does he will make 3 more to me 8)
But as you said it might will rub on full lock, but i will test and see. Im not saying when this will happend, but hopefully sometime atleast

If you run wider wheels, so that the center of the wheel is in the same line as the originals, then the stress will be no more than original
