Speedos

Postby viva les vegas » Wed Mar 31, 2010 5:04 pm

I remember someone saying that they now have a problem with getting a speedo to work as there's no cable drive on their new gearbox, but can't for the life of me find who it was. I think I may have found a solution. The last item on this page looks like it might do the job. I don't know if it'd be possible to use the speedo needle out of an Omega or something ((just remembered which car it was) or if you'd have to use one of their own digital setups.

The person you are thinking of is JonHPF with his suzuki-powered Firenza :) but i think he's sorted it by rigging up a digi-speedo with a wheel driven sensor setup.

no worries sir :)
I was wondering what you were going to use. Is it possible, with work, to use the diff from the Omega, and the tubes or axle casing from the Viva, and some custom shafts?

Les , thanks for the info , the one that would suit my set up is the magnetic pickup , but that one looks a bit flimsy .
Im going to locate the sensor (i already have) to pick up from the prop/ pinion shaft - will make a cog out of steel to sandwich betwween prop/pinion.
Cheers - Jon
