Fraid I would have to go the 8 route! If any.. Not that I am planning it ! Hopefully the old Firenza will keep chugging along! Did I tell you it is my everyday car?
80 MILES A DAY AT LEAST!
The next person that tells me it should be in a garage and NOT the road, I will reverse over. :D
What the hell is that?

Tommy, forgive me if I'm blowing your cover, but don't I recognise your name from the Imp Club Forum?
Is this a sideline or are you deserting the Imp?
Either way all the best

South African Chevy Firenza

Postby edgoose1 » Fri Feb 24, 2006 8:41 pm

There was 100 small block Chey Firenzas made in South Africa back in 1973. Yes, Terry Price who is in the DSG owns an original one. In standard the top speed was 147 mph and as i recall 0 to 60 is around 5 seconds. Standard BHP was 302bhp. Now dont forget that was 1973. Standard drum brakes at the back. Not many have survived and in South Africa a lot of Replica cars have appeared latley as they are now worth big bucks. Only a few original Chevys survive.

But if you have a Coupe and the right bits i suppose its not difficult to make a replica and a replica in South Africa would fetch £10 000.

They are also still raced there in historic and saloon racing. Lino Marcedo who is a member of the Viva club has two original Cheys, but they need restoring he has had them years. I was out there lsat Feb and saw them.

Fuel consumption was about 18 miles to the gallon when going steady and about 9 to the gallon on a track.
