What is required to change a 1256cc to 2300cc?

Postby vauxhallbitz » Tue Aug 24, 2010 11:25 pm

I am starting to gather bits to change my Viva E from a 1256 to a 2300, what else do I need apart from

2300 front axle
2300 rear axle
2300 prop shaft
2300 engine and gearbox

Secondly will the 2300 autobox fit the Viva E without too much hassle or am I better sticking with the manual box?

Thanks.

Hi all,
anhonyb, how did you shorten your upper arms? And too what measurements? as i have converted my 1256 to a 2300, its taken me over year and half! & drove too the Mot centre yesterday and found the prop bangs on the underneath of the car beacuse the radius arms are too long! Apart from that only failed on rear brakes! Almost there!

By the way answer too original post you have the bulk of the main things you need, you will need lots of little bits on the way like different & longer cables to reach. You will need a new handbrake cable as 1256 one wont reach. Also you will need new hair because i have pulled all mine out converting mine! :D

i shortened them about 27mm i think. I cut it out from the middle and welded them together

then strengthened it with these plates

im not sure on the thickness, it was thicker than the stuff the radius arm is made out of

I used the standard manifold and downpipe then custom made the rest backwards
