Does K&N filter do anything???

Hi all,

I am looking to do a really simple fit of a performance air filter on my Viva HC 1973. I looked at the K&N filter about £40, or does anyone else know what will work.

MOre to the point, do these thing actually make a real difference, or am I wasting my money and is it a case of if its not broke dont fix it. I would hate to have all running problems etc as it puurs like a cat now, but just thought it would give it more power and look nice in chrome.

Not sure if they do really make much difference. But with out doing anything else to the engine any difference it does make you probably wont notice. Look nice though.

You are better to spend that £40 on a tune up and leave the air filter as it is....

There is a possibility it will sound more powerful..(and create a "Placebo effect") so you think the car is faster...

Agree .... if its running sweet... then leave it ...!!
All you will gt is a rapsier sound when flooring it..... and maybe even lose the
sweet running and it will suck in more air ........!!

K&N filters are excellent at filtering air without restricting air flow.
BUT it would be a wate of time fitting it to an unmodifed carburettor engine and could infact give less power as the engine could run lean at high revs due to the greater air flow.
another problem is you will lose the winter setting on the air filter. assuming you are taking about removing the air filter housing and not just the element?
as said. spend the money on a tune up. your engine will thankyou
