Viva Spax shocks - what will fit?

Hello all.

I'm after some spax shocks for the viva (HC) but for some reason viva shocks are uber pricey and I'm having trouble finding adjustable spax or gas shocks for a viva. Anyway, it looks like Mini shocks are a pretty close contender - they look virtually the same - and as they are adjustable then damping ability can be adjusted.

Does anyone know the dimensions and fixing diameters for mini shocks so I can comapire with the Viva?

Interesting. At the weekend I'll have a snoop around my garage and see if I have any spare Mini shocks left to compare them to Viva shocks. You can buy AVO and Spax adjustable shocks for a Viva but at £65 a corner.

Ace, thanks mate. Second hand mini spax come up on ebay all the time. A set went last week for £65 - all four corners. Let me know you findings!

No spare shocks lying around at the moment but the OH's Mini needs new rears and I'll be cutting up my rolling Mini shell soon. Think I scrapped my old Viva shocks though I'll still get measurements for you when I can though

Pretty sure i've got a pair of 2nd hand spax adjustables for the rear on a HC - i'll have a look up my lockup as i'm going up there in a minute - will let you know if interested?

I might be interested, but as the offer was to Dave originally I'm happy for him to have first refusal. Going to be a while before mine needs them anyway

Mini shocks are too small in the "extended " and the "compressed" state, - they will clunk like crazy on a Viva suspension. Spax shocks are really horrible things, only two adjustments, Very hard or very soft. The Spax shocks are poor quality still living on their "Spax" name only. Best shocks to use are GAZ, - you'll find they are top quality and cheaper too...... Adrian

Adrian, do GAZ do Viva shocks? I called them once and they denied all knowledge and have never found them.

They might not necessarily list them as viva.Might be worth asking if they have jensen healey fitment as i have heard that they use viva/magnum underpinnings
