front seats- advice please

Postby box of bits » Tue Oct 16, 2012 8:53 am

Hi need help

I have a Firenza with the later floor pan. When I got the car it had rather grotty Magnum front seats- wanting to change them I bought some Firenza ones - then I found out that I had the later floor pan :x .
I do not want to covert the floor pan so what seats have people fitted ?? looking for a black leather effect like the original rear seats. I believe that Magnums never came with black vynal seats so thats out ! :?
So other than the hge re trim expense of the Magnum seats I have what are the alternatives - some ideas please

Did the SL have the flat floor pan that the later Magnums had?

Looks like I am left with either
1) cutting out the additional brace to the floor-pan- sill or recovering the Magnum seats

If you drill out the spots for the side mounts then the floorpan is the same shape.
Then you can transfer the seat mounts and drill new mount holes.

It's not a hard job (done it before).

If your car is a droopsnoot then you want to keep the floor original. As stated it's possible to modify the floor but the welds can be difficult to remove nicely so that the parts are tidy enough to replace in the future.

I broke a 2 door Viva a few years ago and it had black vinyl seats so there are bound to be ones out there. I've never seen a good set of Magnum seats advertised.

2 and 4 door front seats are similar in shape. If you are handy, covers could be changed over.

If you could find another colour there used to be a product which would dye them black. (Vinylcoat?)

Thanks everyone

I am only reluctant to get rid of the side panels for the originality factor but I guess Iam being daft really.

Building this from a box of bits has been tough going to say the least !!
