HB Windscreen Wipers Upgrade

Postby VivaPete » Tue Jan 22, 2013 9:21 am

Hi All
Can anyone give some advice on a suitable upgrade windscreen wiper unit for the HB Viva.Something that is easily sourced ideally.
I am totally peed off with the standard underpowered ineffective wiper unit.
My current unit has new nylon bushes and blades but just doesn't stick to the window effectively and is SO SO slow!

Thanks.

I think I remember someone saying they'd fitted a Rover one to their HB, but not sure which Rover. I'd have said that the not sticking to the screen bit was down to weak springs in the arms. I had a similar problem on my Audi, and I heated the arm with a blowtorch, and bent it towards the screen more. Not an ideal solution, but its working, and I can see :-)

Will it fit in the HB housing? Have you tried this?

HC is very similar to one of the Cavalier wiper motors. I was given one because they come as a unit with the linkage and the ball joints on the linkage had worn. I haven't tried it in the car yet, but I figured it would run the wipers faster. That might be an optical illusion, though, because later cars have bigger wipers so the outer end of the wiper is travelling faster for the same spingle speed.
