Actually, thats a pretty neat job compaired to some I've seen. There used to be fibre glass ones for sale, but I found these were a very poor fit and needed much 'adjustment.' There were some tin patern ones knocking around a while ago on the bay, and I managed to get some of these for fitting to my droop come the time... However, I have before made some thin 1.5mm to 2mm lead flashing which can be moulded pretty much to any shape required, screwed in with washers, and the folded edges then gooped with a suitable sealant to make the inner arch as good as water tight to protect the A pillars.

Just some alternatives.

Sometimes, I wonder why I bother, and then for one fleeting moment things will go right for a change.

Didn't think of making lead ones as you say easy to shape and seal.

I started off with a cardboard template,

Transfered to the sheet alloy,

I think making them is probably the best way. While I had the Firenza in the air last week to check over before MOT, I cleaned out that part of the wing and tried to test-fit one of my Vauxhall shields, and couldn't get it to fit. There has been a bit of work in that part of the car, but not much, so I think if I put shields in I'll have to make them.

I did noticed that because the outer wing is very close to the bottom of the A-pillar, it's very easy for that gap to close up with dust and dirt, and that's when the rot starts of course.
