Engine upgrade (something different)

Postby noz » Fri Feb 08, 2013 1:47 am

Hi
Just a thought what if the complete front suspension was moved forward to avoid cutting into the bulk head.
I would like to put a omega v6 like another thread but the guy didn't complete due to space behind the engine. People have talked about balance, is it about the engine balance over the front beam or the engine balance between the front and rear axles? Would this idea work\anyone tried it?

Didn't someone on here manage to fit the v6 but had problems with space around the brake cylinder area and not the height? The reason am thinking about this mod is because the omega is rear wheel drive so things like manifold\exhaust\gearbox are cheap. You can pickup a omega with all the goodies and leather for about 500. What about the 2.2 omega is that to tall?

The 2.2 engine has a problem with clearing the subframe due to the balance shafts that are located in the sump

I tried to fit a Vxr astra engine in to my Hc on hind sight it can be done but means alot off custom bits

This thread says the earlier engines didn't have balance shafts. Is this true for the all the engine sizes 20,22,25?

Just depends on the year off the engine

Courtney tuning do a balance shaft deletion kit

But you would still have a custom sump as the 1.8 manta one DOES NOT fit the 2 peice sump vauxhall blocks

If it helps I am soon to be selling manta big wing baffled sumps that are really good quality.
Can be sold fully welded or just acked up.

I could be interested in one of those, depending on quality and price!

Sure thing. We have started to manufacturer them as one we bought for a redtop from a well known ford rally prep company was very poor quality. This has been cad designed and have some made. Just making a few tweaks then can start to sell them. Looking to give it in 4 options.

1: kit form
2: tacked up
3: fully welded MIG
4: fully welded TIG
