Magnum 2300 axle into HB

Postby ian24ian » Mon Apr 01, 2013 6:26 pm

I know I need different arms to get the pinion angle correct when using the 2300 HC axle, What I need to know is the details (Dimensions between centres) of the arms, I can see me making my own so when the car is lowered the top arms dont foul the chassis and the bottom arms are adjustable, rose joint at one end and urathane at the other, anybody out there who can help with sizes,??
Many thanks, Ian

Im interested in this too- might want to fit a higher ratio rear end in he future- figuring on it being a HC axle.

HC axles are the same width right?

Im a novice at this, but I do know the Magnum/firenza/viva OHC axles are the same width, OHV axles are a bit fragile, ratios I believe are as follows, A - 3.88, B - 4.125, D - 3.45, K - 3.727, none on later 1256 cars - 4.125
I would think it would be a good move for you to explore the Holden axles, I think they are the same but 5 stud,
The Magnum OHC arms measure 298mm Centre to centre,

On the standard HC, the lower arm is the same length whether it's OHC or OHV, the upper arm is shorter for OHC because the diff casing is bigger, not sure by how much but I'm sure I've seen someone on here recently who has shortened them.

I have a larger magnum 1800 axle fitted. I presume its the same casing as a 2.3? If so can I just swap the diffhead and pinion across?

Yes, the 1800 and 2300 are the same axle apart from the diff and pinion. :D

Just reading this post and I did this to a mates car 20 years ago we found a ford cortina prop fitted perfectly if you changed the front yoke.
