I investigated this and the RedTop conversions when I was planning to restart building my Firenza. I dismissed both on a number of counts.
1. My Firenza is a real 2300 SportSL and although not a very original example it should be a 'period' modified car.
2. Both the RedTop and V6 require extensive mods which would make it hard to go back to a Slant 4 without leaving telltale 'scars' and going back would probably never be done!
3. The cost, labour, trouble etc just to have a modern engine to impress the guys at the Saturday night car park meet is just not worth it!
4. There's nothing to beat the unique sound of a good, well sorted Slant 4, tuned or untuned.
I think that the best route is to mod the Slant 4 - if you want to go Lotus head - OK - but not a V6 or RedTop in a Magnum as good as yours. Remember yours is a real Magnum 2300 - a rare car - it's just an old car with a V6 or RedTop without the Slant 4.
