Zetec conversion ?? Has anyone done it ?

Postby looneyvivadudey » Fri Oct 25, 2013 8:32 am

Hey I've been having nothing but problems with my 1256 which has been bored etc to 1310+60 and I've had enough so I though what can I put in it that's got abit of power and is pretty reliable and thought about a 2.0 zetec out of a Mondeo or something . Basically just wondering if anyone has done it and would tell me what needs to be done etc so I can do it and get my viva back

PLEASE HELP ME feel lost without her :-(

I thought about going pinto but decided to go with the zetec although if I can't find a cheap enough one I'll probably go pinto :-)

Keep it Vauxhall and fit a Red Top. Been done loads of times before on Chevettes and a few Vivas so plenty of info and advice out there.

I've never really got on with red tops I don't know why lol
I Spose if I can't get a zetec I could go down that route or maybe Astra turbo engine ??
But either way it's going to be a fair bit of work

a mate of mine did a zetec in his escort and he said it wasnt worth the amount it cost him he said hed go with normally aspirated cosworth in future as there are parts that are no good to the turbo lads that are perfectly usable for normally aspirated and wouldve been cheaper!

You basicaly need the same parts as the escort mk1/2. Pinto is more straight forward and a weekend conversion. You can pick up a pinto cheaper than a zetec. If you have good fabriction skills and can have the car off the road for a few weeks go for the zetec, if not then the pinto. My daily hc runs a pinto, so if you need advice
