Valerie the Cosworth Viva!

Postby BigWallace » Tue Jun 24, 2014 9:03 pm

Hi guys! As the garage is now complete, the Viva's conversion can begin in ernest! The old Corsair was brought in, stripped of it's engine, 'box & prop', then put back outside & covered up. The Viva then came back in to have 400 ponies shoved down it's poor little throat! It seems to fit very well & with a few small incisions, it should be all mounted & bracketed within the next few weeks. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Cheers,

Leigh.

Looks like a good fit. What axle will you be using?

Hi Chris! I'll be using the internals from the Corsair's atlas, but in a Mk5 Cortina narrowed casing.

PS: Loving the V8!!

Cheers,

Leigh.

Hi Carl! Nope! The bulkhead stays as is. Also, there is plenty of space in the tunnel! Just have to move the gear stick hole & hand brake lever back about 6". I had to modify the suspension cradle to let the sump fit in though.

Cheers,

Leigh.

PS: I'll post some more pics in a mo.

Cheers buddy!! Yep, it'll dance alright! I'll be using the internals from the Corsair's narrowed atlas, but in a Mk5 Cortina narrowed casing. The Corsair weighed in at just under 1000kgs & the Viva should be a touch lighter. Quaife 2 piece 'shafts & LSD coped with dogs abuse before!! Just need new diff plates now.

PS: Hows the V6 HB going? Sweet, sweet little sleeper!!!

Cheers,

Leigh.

Right guys! Here are some more pics of the progress (or lack thereof) from the weekend! Used the new tig for the mounts... it'll be doing the whole Viva now!! The mig will only be used for tacking.

Cheers,

Leigh.

PS: Note the grubby bulkhead water & leaf trap... never been cleaned out by the look of it!
