Sounds like bolting is the best solution, thanks for all your replies.

Coming in late on this one ! My red estate has screwed on wings and so has the Red Baron. I can take some photos on the Baron if you want specifics - here is a pic which shows (not too well) the estate. Chevettes and Astras went that way - its not structural.

I have bolted on wings on my HB, They have been on for 40 years and are great for doing any maintenance and keeping arches clean behind the fibre board. They were modified to bolt to the original back brace and extra gusseting added to the front to bolt to the front valance, with two small rivets where the landing panel meets the wing.

Thanks for that guys, it makes more sense to me to bolt them on just in case they need to be reused at a later date.

I would bolt them on looks the same externally and easier to remove for future repairs
