Electric Cooling Fan

Postby MagnumJohn » Sun Feb 08, 2015 3:13 pm

I was wondering if anyone has fitted a electric cooling fan to their OHC. Mine is 2300 magnum, and before I commit to buying one I thought id ask you guys first. What I need to know is does the 9" fan do the job, as the radiator depth is 12.5" and the dimensions of the 12" fan casing is more than that.

I use a 10" offset to the driver's side to miss the nose of the water pump. It's a tight fit with just enough room to slip the alternator belt on and off.

I bought a cheap one and a cheap adjustable thermostat. Total about £30 as opposed to about £100 for a well known named brand. It needs wired through a relay.

Hi, I've been considering fitting two smaller fans as pushers mounted on the front panel behind the front grill. I've got a couple of old Suzuki GSXR1100 fans which are very compact and should fit into the space available. They'll be more of a final resort if things get really hot as I intend to leave the belt driven fan on as well.

Thanks for your replies, I ended up fitting a 9 inch fan, and offset too. Came with an adjustable thermostat from ebay, here is the link if your interested. £34.95. Very happy with it
