Yeah, I've often said the Rover T16 lump, especially with a turbo, has a lot of potential for use in a classic conversion, though
the sump is the wrong shape to clear the Viva crossmember, and being alloy wouldn't be easy to alter. Not sure if any other sumps,
such as from the sherpa van or the steel sump (easier to modify) from the Montego, would fit.
I'm sure it could be done, with determination, but its not the easiest of swaps.
