Exhaust to suit pinto power

Postby gazpman » Sun Feb 04, 2007 9:55 pm

The exhaust currently on my pinto'd viva coupe seems to be a pinto manifold on a standard (with added dents) 1256 viva one, not ideal for the 2l really.

As sticking with a vauxhall parts would be cheaper than bespoke bits, should i find a 2300 or 1800 exhaust?

Help appreciated in the form of advice and parts
Gary

Dont know what the prices are like where you are, but i'd go for a stainless system, more cost effective in the long run and guaranteed for life!, also made to measure kinda thing so no more dented pipes to make it fit :D
Ive got a really good 2nd hand 1256 system from an estate (dont know if it fits the saloon though?), a quite big bore system, certainly bigger than the normal 'peashooter' could put it in the list of stuff to take to the Auto jumble if you like ??

Not gonna be able to get to the autojumble unfortunately, cheers though.

If anyone knows whether estate/saloon/estate exhausts are compatible that would be useful anyway.

What kind of price would i be looking at for a stainless system? ball park

Cheers
Gary

Im using a 1760 Ford X Flow in mine with an Ashley manifold,so a little more work as the exhaust goes down the same side as the OHC engines and needs to cross over the floor pan, my local Stainless exhaust place is charging me £275 for a full system from the manifold back with a big single box, which i think is well worth it.

I paid £280 for my silver HB estate. That is a stainless one from the manefold back. Had it made to be as quiet as poss rather than sounding racey, but you can choose the note etc.
