Renault 11 oblong headlights to snoot light boxes

This is an area for discussion about modifications to Vivas.

Thanks Mike - ive already tried these type and they are too bulky and look too large in the boxes , ive managed to source some cibies (not originals) but same hight as snoots but with strait vertical sides - these will fit the boxes without any cutting and will just need the vertical sections of the boxes filled out from a curve to give a strait edge to profile up to the light unit

Found them on www.talbotco.com at $95 a unit (around 70 each ?) plus shipping . still sounds a lot of money even in pounds - so may revert back to finding some isuzu ones in a scrappy and revert to converting them to rear adjustment ! Probably a lot more work , but should be a lot cheaper

Have you managed to read the whole internet yet? :D

Jon,

If this link works scroll down and there are some hella headlights that are almost (within a few mm) the same size as those ones from america you put a link for above but are $51 or there abouts.

http://www.thepartsbin.com/catalog/?N=9 ... ,year:1989),AND(universal:1))&Vi=1640+11909+4294963361&y=1989&mk=Isuzu&md=Pickup

what do you think?

Ok the link doesn't quite work

But the info in the brackets will get you on the right page IE, Isuzu, 1989, Pick up.

The ones from America will be for LHD and won't pass the MOT here as the dipped beam will point towards oncoming traffic rather than the left.

Quite right but I guess there is a chance that Hella make them for right and left hand drive cars.

Its got to be worth dropping them a line to find out.

Thanks for the info Po, the lights are probably the same as our Uk Isuzu trucks (as in the pic further up this thread) . Ive gone off the Cibie R180 idea due to cost - but the ones on that yank site were not for american market - which leads me to believe they are for RHD cars - maybe worth an email just to confirm though .
Even though the isuzu ones secure from the front (using a slim bezel) im certain that the overall dimensions (with bezel removed) will be very similar to the R180's .
Just got to get a set now to test the theory :?

SHHHHHH!!!

I might have found something :o its a secret for now

Just waiting for them to be posted and I'll let you know what they are. Best price for now is £33 each so that should be a result if they fit.

Come on Po - no secrets on here  - hope they are not allegro /metro / dolomite type - they are probably not Renault Alpine lights (exactly same as snoots but for lhd only) .
I was hoping to spend no more than £30 for a full set of used isuzu ones .At 33 each if new , then let us know if they are any good :D
