Renault 11 oblong headlights to snoot light boxes

Postby Jon-HPF » Sat Aug 16, 2008 4:27 pm

Closest thing to snoot cibies i could find , but they dont have the curved vertical sides - more oblong. Had to cut away all corners of boxes and refabricated new more square corners to accept the new lights , but it gives the same deep flush fit as the cibies

Cut off the plastic tabs on each corner of lights and welded on small "L" brackets (12pence each at B&Q) Cut out new stainless steel backing plates (1.5 mm thick) - welded s/s nuts in each corner , used s/s long bolts with nyloc nuts to allow adjustment

New lights look ok in the reworked boxes :)

Repairs to slightly damaged sportshatch nose cone - cut out damaged areas - re glassed - then fibreglass filler , will use normal filler to finish off.

Rear of nose - reglassed damaged areas.
I am considering fitting the fog/indicator assembly in place of the normal side/indicator holes. So if anyone has got a decent pair of fog/indicator units from an FE VX/490 or FE 2300 GLS - please let me know.
Cheers - Jon

Only slightly out of the box Coggers! :D , more a case of needs must when theres no decent original cibies to hand.
I have a spare set of lightboxes and am toying with the idea of fitting the 3 small square lights as on some alfa's - so id have a choice of a 6 headlighted snoot but without having to extend the light boxes!
Now which model alfa are those lights on !!??
cheers - Jon

Thanks Guys , Boyd - the cars on the road , just working on an 1800 axle to shove in to try and get better top end at the moment.
Martin - the nosecones are quite easy to work on being f/glass - just takes a bit of time to strip off the paint etc without damaging the gel coat, then sorting out any damaged areas etc .
I have a new old stock nosecone still in factory primer - but i couldnt bring myself to use it!
Can u post some pics of your nosecone - should give an idea of how much prep work is needed :D
