Decided to fit some rear quarter opening windows in the Viva E - a simple job really - but it turned into a complete interior strip down (all glass / roof lining and intereior out etc) addressed some rust areas around rear windows (usual places) plus welded some areas of floor (again usual places) then bare metaled interior roof - before anti rusting , then zinc primiing roof and floor and gloss blacked.
Covered door / rear panel tops plus top and bottom of dash (the metal bits) and A & B pillars with black leatherette material. Sprayed roof ling black.
Fitted suzuki interior mirror plus courtesy light/clock console after spraying it black.
Fitted some original snoot sun visors (saved painting other ones black)
Painted rear shelf satin black- used Suzuki GTI 1991 interior seats - rear ones I bolted together then used some old gate hinges so they fold down , had to cut out the X brace. Used Suzuki inertia belts in place of the Magnum ones i had originally installed . Relocated the lower belt retaining bolt to the rear most corner . Installed the rear openers after complete strip down and painted satin black. Refitted front Suzuki bucket seats . Used a centre console from an escort mk 4 (cut to fit) .
Fitted leather gear gaiter with chrome surround plus hanbrake gaiter with alloy handle , had to modify the handbrake lever to fit this one.
The escort console gave the right dimensions to take the Susuki gear lever (new position through the tunnel)
Fitted DTV dash cowl after painting satin black.
Covered in black carpet the rear seat section and around the rear wheel sections as these were on show cos the rear seats are smaller than the viva's
Replaced both screens (new rear one) and fitted new front and rear screen rubbers.
Hope I havent bored you with this lot , i will post some other pics of the exterior work on roof and door shuts/ frames soon
Cheers -Jon

Very nice and dedicated Jon.
Good to be different & up to date.

Please don't sell me a Viva. I'll just ruin it.

You have been busy Jon...well done.
Inside of passenger door looks great, is that the standard door card or a modified one?
Phil.

thanks Phil, they are bog standard "e" door cards - the ones where the painted door tops are on show. I did fit a full set of full length magnum cards but these were not good quality so i decided to replace with the original "E" cards . Its personal prefference , i know, but i dont like any body colour on show inside the car.
Its a bit of effort to get the material to follow the contours - had to do it in stages , using clamps to hold in place whilst glue set !

The other option would have been to use the plastic door tops as fitted to original snoots , but finding a decent full set of these would be like pulling teeth . I do have a full set which i took off my snoot but these are badly wrinkled and warped .
The leatherette material is only £9 a metre off a metre wide roll - 2 mtrs at £18 and a litre tin of glue did the entire car
Happy new year - Jon

Happy new year to you too Jon.
I agree, the door cards look good when covering the full door, mine show the top painted section of door.
Not sure about your rear seats, is that them in position in the picture?....they just look a bit upright or something compared to the originals.
Looking good though.
What engine have you got in the car? Was it you that was going to be fitting a suzuki engine?
Phil.

Hi Phil - rear seats more for lookin at that sitting in  It didnt look right with the front sooki buckets and rear red tartan firenza seats - anyway , its only the dog that sits in the back. I did manage to get the rear upright section to hinge and fold down so at least ive got a decent bit of space for the next spares day
Engine is sooki 1300 with 5 speed box - all in and working (sort of) -just got 2 sort out a wee electrical prob with alternator (jap nippondenso!) seems to be draining the battery  U can check out the conversion in Modifications under heading "Got it - I hope its not catching"
Once ive sorted that out its off for its mot - then i can see how it all runs etc . - Ive noticed a bitof blue smoke ou the exhaust so i bought another complete sooki 1300 engine on ebay for £3   - which i inend to strip down and recondition as a spare .
Cheers - Jon

Good work fella! Really tidy job. I fittted grey leather seats from a Rover 400 to my HB for a little more luxury and also ended up replacing/recolouring and refurbishing full interior including fitting 70mm blue LED deck lights (yes deck lights as in garden!) in rear pillars.

Only got pics taken during fitting. Will post pic of finished job later, but you get the idea! Lights run on 12v dc as most of these deck lights do so just a straight fit once you work out which is pos and neg.
Could probably have rotated the pics! Also pics show opposite sides.
